Are We Commanded to Believe in G-d? 

What are some of the ramifications of the first principle? If we have an obligation to fulfill certain commandments, we must first have the awareness of G-d. There are no commandments without the awareness of the commander. The recognition of the Divine precedes the acceptance of the commandments. That is exactly what we learn from the first commandment “Anochi Hashem” I am your G-d. There is no commandment to believe in G-d. The belief in G-d precedes all of the commandments.
